In a recent development, Representatives John Sarbanes (D-MD) and David Cicilline (D-R.I) came up with an editorial in The Hill. It explained the plans of Democrats to unrig the American democracy and save it from the special interest groups and lobbyists who are controlling Washington. It stated that Democrats want better jobs, wages, and future for the American people. Further, it stressed out its commitment to the middle class and struggling communities. It also promised improved opportunities and better living conditions for the hard working Americans. The party asked the support of the people to bring down the influence of the special interest groups in the government and form a government with deep connection and accountability to the people.
It continued that more people are now aware of the situation of the increasing influence of big money donors in the American administration. The government policies are now focused on to boost the stock markets in the country in an attempt to increase the corporate earnings. Contrary to the big earners, middle-class Americans are struggling to meet their ends and even receives cut on their retirement income. With the influence of their patrons, the Republican leaders are planning for more tax cuts to help the corporations and the wealthy people in the country. Sadly, all these attempts are made while there are concerns about the support to popular initiatives such as Pell Grants, Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid.

Interestingly, End Citizens United started the fight against the big money influencers since it founded in 2015. It should be noted that the PAC was formed to defend the 2010 Citizens United verdict that gave unlimited and uncontrolled spending rights to corporations and unions. The court further stated that the corporations have the equal First Amendment rights similar to citizens. Since then, large money flow into politics and the campaign system became highly visible, and it grew in such a way that money could even buy the elections. People are becoming aware of the threats of the situation year after year, and that brings more support for End Citizens United from all sections of the society.
It is reported that the PAC has received contributions worth $4 million within the first three months of this year. Interestingly, the PAC is planning to collect at least $35 million before 2018 Congress elections. Tiffany Muller, Executive Director of the PAC, has confirmed that it has received contributions from more than 100,000 individuals during the period. Interestingly, 40,000 of the individuals made their contribution for the first time to the PAC. It shows the mass support for the PAC and its mission. The PAC is planning to spend the money to elect as many campaign-finance reform champions as possible in the next year elections.
