Avaaz: Saving the Environment One Step at a Time

Avaaz is an advocacy group that also raises funds and hosts petitions for many causes. Founded in 2007 they mainly focus their efforts on climate issues, corruption, animal and human rights. Unlike previous international groups they maintain a large base of members and its staff provide summarized arguments for supporting several different causes in an easy to understand way. They are dedicated to their members and do a yearly survey to choose their top initiatives and among those this year are Save the Seas and Breaking Monsanto’s Grip, summarized below.

In the past year Avaaz and their members have made great strides towards their goal of thwarting Monsanto. They submitted the petition against glyphosate (Roundup) with over two million signatures to EU representatives. Glyphosate has been linked to cancer in recent UN studies, and Monsanto is in hot water legally in the US with a massive class action suit. In the EU it required a renewal of its license to be sold to non professionals- and Avaaz along with members contacting their own governments it was a successful pursuit with their license denied to the joy of many.

With the force of Avaaz they’ve made strides towards their Saving the Seas Initiative starting in the UK in 2010. With a massive effort from Avaaz, the UK set aside a large amount of protected marine zones throughout its territories. Many experts in marine biology believe that this in addition to reducing waste dumped in the ocean. The Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument which is a marine reserve that doubled the amount of protected ocean world wide was approved just a few years later after another monumental effort by members. Just last year they had caught wind of another possible marine reserve off the coast of Hawaii. Another large rallying cry coordinated by Avaaz and they’ve added yet another marine reserve to their goal: to have 30% of our oceans protected by 2030.

Cleansing Conditioners and How They Can Change Your Life

We all have a love-hate relationship with our hair. We love when it cooperates with us and stays put, but we hate when it’s frizzy, stubborn, and impossible to manage. But through all the ups and downs of our relationship, we still do our best care for hair and protect our precious locks because we know that healthy hair is always in style. Your stylist has probably warned you about the dryness that can be a result of washing your hair every day. No one wants hair that feels like straw, so we vow to only wash our hair a few times a week. But then life happens and, let’s face it, sometimes a girl’s just gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. But did you know that one of the biggest threats to your hair can actually be hiding right there in your everyday shampoo?

Sulfates in your shampoo are what causes that nice lather that you have come to expect when you wash your hair. They are also responsible for the loss of that vibrant color you just got at the salon. Not only that, they open your hairs cuticle and strip the natural, healthy oils found there, leaving your hair dry and extra susceptible to damage. Using these harsh chemicals a few times a week sounds bad enough, but every day? Yuck!Lucky for your hair, there is a new product storming the shelves of your local salon and it’s about to change your life.

Cleansing conditioners are gentle shampoos that are free of harsh chemicals such as sulfates that damage your hair. They do not lather and actually serve to restore the balance of moisture and natural oils in your hair. A fantastic place to start when looking for a new cleansing conditioner is the WEN by Chaz product line. David Giertz Talks About Social Security

David Giertz is a financial advisor at Nationwide Investment Services Corporation. He’s one of the most well-known brokers in the industry. He has over 30 years of experience as an advisor and has passed 4 professional exams. Currently, he continues working at Nationwide Investment as one of their head brokers.

He’s been a registered broker nearly his entire career. What a broker does exactly can be confusing to most people. As an FINRA registered broker, he acts as the sales personnel at a larger brokerage firm. Brokerage firms buy and sell stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other types of securities.

As a broker, Giertz deals a lot with retirement finances. Many financially sound people look to investing as a way to ensure steady retirement income. Giertz has advised many clients and individuals on the importance of Social Security benefits. Social Security is no longer something that is automatically ensured to anyone just because they turn a certain age.

David Giertz advises everyone to start giving retirement planning more thought. For most people, there’s a lack of understanding or numerous misconceptions about Social Security. Due to these misunderstandings and misconceptions, many end up with less income or unexpected taxes.

Even for the older generations that are currently retired or will be retiring soon, their financial cushion (pensions) is drying up. It’s extremely important for everyone thinking about retiring to create a realistic retirement income plan on moneytips.com. It’s best if that plan includes maximizing Social Security benefits.

The one thing that retirees forget to take into consideration is inevitable health care expenses. It’s no surprise that retirees would have health care expense, but health care seems to surprise many. It’s single-handedly responsible for keeping one-fourth of retirees from living comfortably.
